Border Collies can be described as affectionate, smart, and energetic dogs who are categorized in the herding group of dog breeds. They come in a variety of colors including, black and white, tri-color black, white, and tan, they also come in red, brown, or liver, and white and red tri-color. The Border Collie has a thick double coat which sheds moderately throughout the year, and very heavily during shedding season. They are considered a medium sized dog breed with a height ranging from 19-22 inches for the males, and 18-21 inches for the females. They have an average weight of 30-55 pounds for both genders. They have a life expectancy of 12-15 years.
